About Us

This craft encompasses so much more than the pots we make – the mugs, bowls, platters and vases…

Of course these things are important to us –  Handmade objects breathe a breath of fresh air into this increasingly digital and industrious world –  but they alone aren’t the reason we keep making them.

The process and rhythm of making is what keeps our wheels turning, and minds focused.

The infinite potential of clay as a material keeps us permanently transfixed and curious within this particular medium.

This crafts history, still being written, paved the way for our present, educates us about our past, and forces us to consider our future.

And it’s the culture of this particular craft  that connects us to people all over the world, including right here, in our own community.

About the Owners

David and Jenny Moldover met in their college’s Ceramics Studio, and pursued separate careers in Pottery and the Arts for the decade after in NYC, before moving up to Newburgh.

David spent that time studying the craft and working in New York’s pottery scene –  managing studios, teaching classes, and designing/producing wares for private clients, restaurants, and designers.

Jenny managed artist Donald Sultan’s studio before beginning a career at Christie’s Auction House, which lead to her current role as the Associate Director of Gagosian Art Advisory, which she still holds.

They moved to Newburgh to chase the dream and open The Newburgh Pottery in 2018.
